How to make a Data Recovery CD with Recover My Files
There are two methods to create a Recover My Files CD described below:
Option 1: Creating a Basic Recover My Files CD
1. Download the Recover My Files Installation file here (6MB):
2. Run the Recover My Files installation file and install the program to a computer.
3. Once installation is complete, navigate to the default installation folder, "C:/Program Files/GetData/Recover My Files". Burn the following files in this folder to a CD:
a. RecoverMyFiles.exe: This is the Recover My Files program.
b. RecoverMyFiles-Help.chm: This is the Recover My Files help file.
c. RMF_PDF.dll: A file that enable the preview of PDF files in the results window.
d. WinAspi32.dll: This file enables Recover My Files to save files found to a CD or DVD.
e. CDB_WIN32.dll: This file enables Recover My Files to save files found to a CD or DVD.
4. Once the CD is created, navigate to RecoverMyFiles.exe on the CD and run this file to start Recover My Files.
Note: Each time you run the program you will be required to enter your product activation details in order to save files. To permanently activate your Recover My Files CD see the instructions below.
NOTE: This is not a boot CD. The Recover My Files CD requires Windows to run.
Option 2: Using The Recover My Files AutoRun CD Front End
If you would like to use the Recover My Files CD front end shown below, download the following Zip file: http://download.getdata.com/recover-my-files-autorun.zip (9MB).

Autorun.zip contains the following files:
- RecoverMyFiles.exe: This is the Recover My Files program.
- RecoverMyFiles-Help.chm: The Help File.
- RMF_PDF.dll: A file that enable the preview of PDF files in the results window.
- WinAspi32.dll: This file enables Recover My Files to save files found to a CD or DVD.
- CDB_WIN32.dll: This file enables Recover My Files to save files found to a CD or DVD.
- Autorun.exe: This program automatically starts the Recover My Files CD when it is inserted into a CD drive.
- Autorun.inf: This file automatically starts the Recover My Files CD when it is inserted into a CD drive.
- RecoverMyFiles.ini:Insert your Recover My Files product activation details in this file (if the contents of this file are not changed Recover My Files will run in Evaluation Mode).
Burn the above files to a CD keeping exactly the same folder structure. Once the CD is inserted into your computer the Recover My Files should start automatically (if it does not, navigate to the file Autorun.exe and run this file). At the top of the program select "Help" then "About" and "Registered To:" should show your activation name.

How to Permanently Activate your Recover My Files CD
In order to save files found by Recover My Files, a product activation key must be entered into the program. When running Recover My Files from CD it is best to permanently activate the CD, otherwise you will need to enter your product activation details each time the CD is used. Activate the CD by editing the file "RecoverMyFiles.ini" to insert your product activation name and key (which can be purchased online at www.recovermyfiles.com) in the following format;
